The best laid plans ....
Well I had a few things planned for this weekend ... but our daughter decided to act up at the beginning of the week, which meant Hedgewolf was not prepared to take her to Wrexham..... Grrrr.....
I'm missing out on a gig that I had planned to go to tonight .. grrr. .....
I'm also missing out on a dinner date tonight with some friends...... grr ... although to be fair to the daughter, that's not her fault, my friend remembered on Wednesday that him and his partner are going to a christening tomorrow and would have to travel there today.
Daughter and I are getting on quite well for a change, my parents sent her some spending cash and she and I did a raid on the charity shops this morning and she also bought me lunch - albeit a veggie pasty from Greggs - but it was lovely and she did put a lot of thought into it.
Oh how I look forward to passing my driving test - then perhaps my knee wouldn't hurt from having had to climb a very steep hill to get to town today. Still haven't figured out how the buses work round here yet. We've only been here 10 months!
Have just 'dyed' my daughter's hair - well kind of - she is determined that she wants to change her hair colour (just like her Mum!) and so she bought a couple of sachets of Shaders & Toners from Superdrug and we have coloured her hair a more subtle shade of reddish blonde ( she has beautiful red/auburn hair normally), the other sachet is a dark brown, which I am reluctant to use on her but she bought it and I'd rather it was a wash in wash out, than a full on chemical colouring. She is constantly under peer pressure to 'get rid' of her 'ginger' hair, although everyone else says how beautiful it is and I agree - I must have spent a fortune over the last 25 years trying to achieve her glorious colour.
Today I had a call from a friend, he and his girlfriend took over the house Hedgewolf & I used to manage when we were House Parents/Foster Carers. He is recovering from viral Meningitis and has been incredibly unwell, at one point his brain was so swollen that he lost his sight and balance and it is only now that it is returning, it has really upset him because he had to hand in his bike and car licence and will not be able to ride or drive until his sight and balance return to normal, he hopes that the medics will allow him to start driving after his next brain scan.
He and his girlfriend are expecting a child in 8 weeks time and she is now so big that she can barely fit behind the wheel of the car. They will be horribly stuck if he doesn't get his licence back before the baby is born.
So it's now even more imperative that I pass my test on July 6th, so that if they do get stuck at least they will have a few people they can call on with a vehicle.
No pressure!!
Weather wise - well it seems like March and April decided to show up, we have strong winds and April showers and it's the middle of bloody May!
Oh! Who said there's no such thing as global warming?? I'm expecting snow on my birthday in August!
Only a month till my cousin arrives from Australia - have advised her to pack lots of warm clothes - just in case!
Wet Wednesday
Morning!!
It's Wednesday and normally at this stage in the week I would be shouting Wahoo at the thought of my rest days ... This week however, I have to work on Thursday, so that I can take Sunday off.... But I will have a long weekend as I've booked a days holiday for Monday. I'm dreaming of four days off! I need a break, I'm knackered, this week seems so long and tiring, I just can't get into it.
So very tired .. Fibromyalgia = pain in every part of my body .. Can't take the pain killers - if I do I won't be able to drive ... Want to drive ... want to sleep ...
My six month probabtion review is ten days overdue but my manager and the call centre manager don't seem to have noticed that I'm still waiting to find out my fate .. grrr..... I just want to know that I've got an extension or being made permanent, instead of just hanging on. I hope it's the latter of the two options as I do enjoy my job (most days) and I have plans for progression through the company.
Ho hum .. life is glum at the moment, don't listen to me, I'm just having a paranoid ramble!
I like driving in my car ...
Do you know how much FUN I had driving to work today, one or two minor glitches but I didn't stall, didn't cut anyone up and got to work happy and cheerful that I had just had an almost perfect drive to work.
The confidence I have gained from passing my theory test last week is incredible. I feel almost like a 'real' driver - I just have to pass the bloody practical. I think I impressed my husband with my driving today!
Sorry to bang on about it guys, but to me driving a car seemed an impossible task and I have tried to shy away from it for 22 years. It has always been so easy to catch a bus or get a lift with someone that the idea of driving for pleasure didn't occur to me. Now having gained confidence I am already planning where I'll go on my own when I've passed my test.
I don't think my friend Clare will ever understand how grateful I am that she gave me the kick up the arse I so sorely needed, it never occured to me to wonder how my husband coped with me being so dependent on him for pretty much everything! Clare reminded us both that we are individuals who chose to marry and become a couple, we had lost sight of ourselves and the people we truly are. So Hedgewolf and I are gaining back some 'me' time and not being quite so dependent on each other for everything. We love each other and want to 'be' together but we also need to spend some time apart doing our own thing and getting my driving licence will give me back exactly what I need - time away from the house, from work, I can go where I want and when I want.
Anyway - I think I waffled a long way past the plot, so I'm going to go to bed now - I shall dream of driving to a white sandy beach - where's the nearest white sandy beach to Dudley? Answers on a postcard to ....
Sketchweasel
Tidy!
Very tidy indeed ...
Have sorted through the dust covered books, have parted with many ....
Have dyed some egyptian cotton bed linen Purple, along with the washing machine, utility room and my hands.
That will take some explaining at work tomorrow ![]()
Now have to get the damn washing dry .. grr.. it's raining, I have a full airer and none of the radiators will take one of those hookey on airing devices... grr..
Have hung new curtains .. wahoo! Neighbours cannot now see my frilly finery when I'm wandering around the house.
Have found kitchen equipment I'd forgotten I'd got - I mean how can one forget that they own a bloody Kenwood Chef??? Whoops, well I did pack it straight after buying it, it's only been in the box for the last year!
I've done the 'shake n vac' dance around the house! (and very silly I looked too!)
I've also copied loadsnloads of cd's for Hedgewolf, which means I have now freed up loads of room on my hard drive.
It's been a very busy day here at Sketchweasel Towers - I feel I have acheived a lot. All that is left to do now is, find my bed under the pile of clean washing, lock up the chickens, feed the cat (again) feed myself, have a bath and then I am ready for bed and work in the morning (boo hiss!)
So good night dear friends - will catch up with you later
Enjoying my time out ...
It's Saturday - it's raining
and I'm up to my ears in books and lots and lots of dust!
Have decided to get rid of many of my books, so have put them up for sale on www.greenmetropolis.com as this is a great way of buying good books at a reduced cost, especially if you are a student, there are some fantastic study books available and when I was doing my Certificate in the Humanities and Certificate in Social Care I found all the books I needed through them.
I've been munching my way through the incredibly yummy biscuits and cheesy onion rolls that Hedgewolf left for me, although I did nip down to the village last night to fetch a curry in a box, which wasn't too bad. Would have preferred the real thing but couldn't afford a takeaway.
It's raining again! I think the April showers have finally arrived - only a month late, but then April 2007 was the dryest on record or something like that.
Have fed the chickens, checked the incubator (no chicks yet), fed the cat - I'm sure that our 3 legged moggy has siamese in her somewhere, she whines and whinges all the bloody time, if it's not for food it's for going out, if it's not for going out, it's for coming in for food.
She woke me up at 3am this morning, by climbing the holly tree outside my bedroom window and scratching at the window and meowing loudly, I was in the middle of some rampant nightmare at the time - my heart was beating like a fucked clock when I let her in, she scampered down the stairs, had food and then demanded to be let out again - little bugger terrified the living daylights out of me.
She woke me up again at 7am demanding to be let in, she ate and then went out again. She is a walking stomach!
She is now trying desperately to get into my office through a closed window - strange creature!
Have you ever seen a 3 legged cat trying to climb a tree? This one has taken to climbing our huge (20 foot plus) Pine tree, she likes chasing the sparrows who are nesting up there, she lost her footing the other day and was caught by our neighbour when she plummeted from about 8 foot. Don't know who was more shocked our neighbour or the cat!
Ho hum - off to shift more books and dust now, a hot bath beckons later ... Work tomorrow, worse luck!
Missing Friends ...
Has anyone seen Dolly Dagger lately??
I have just noticed that I haven't seen any blogs by him for quite a while - anyone know where he's gone?
It's cos I was listening to Hendrix this morning that it suddenly clicked that there was a friend missing off my list!
Driving ...
Well as you all know I passed my Driving Theory Test yesterday (still bemused by it!)
Have now booked my Practical Driving test - I'm taking it on Friday 6th July at 11.41am (don't ask me the DSA have some strange time slots!) My instructor says he doesn't see why I shouldn't pass, with eight weeks more practice I should have no problems.
So there you go - watch out world - here I come!
I shall pootle about the country in a little purple fiesta ...... I may visit a town near you soon!
Now I'm looking forward to a weekend to myself - the Hedgewolf and Daughter have gone camping in Wrexham again this weekend, so am going to treat myself to a little light housework, a couple of long soaks in the bath and some VERY LOUD ROCK MUSIC!! With only myself, the chickens and the cat to feed haven't really got much to do.
Beware of the nocturnal Sketchweasel!
YIPPEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Erm .... completely overwhelmed and bamboozled!
I PASSED MY THEORY TEST!!!
I've got a Certificate with my name on it and everything!
Wahoooo
Get paid next week - going to book my Practical test for two months hence.
I will have my full licence before my 39th birthday, so there!
buggerybollocks!
Guess who drew the short straw to work on a bank holiday!
After a very quiet Sunday on the call centre, I predicted that it would be a 'red light' day today (there is a little l.e.d. light on our telephones and it flashes yellow, orange, green and red depending on the traffic through the call centre)
and there's me .. muggins here ... the only member of my team to be at work on a bloody bank holiday!
So to all of my customer's today - I apologise if you were kept waiting, it's because out of a staff of 300 there were actually only 20 of us at work today.
And to the customer who called me a CUNT! I hope that the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits and you are stricken with something nasty that itches under your foreskin.
I don't get paid to take that sort of abuse and I'll thank ye not to use that sort of language, when I am in fact only doing MY FUCKING JOB.
I thank you all - I do apologise if I have offended anyone, but feel the need to let off steam.

More Moosic
Has anyone noticed any adverts ?
I was just looking over my blog and realised that where I put up my pictures of my head shave there are some rather 'unusual' adverts ... go have a look.
Well it made me giggle!
Going now to get truly and utterly stoned and rest my poor knee.
More on Music!
oooooooh!
I like Polderbits!
Now I've sussed it out I mean I really like it!
Have just transferred one of my most sacred vinyl to my mp3 player - listened to it on mp3 player!
Now I don't suppose anyone else likes this but ...
I love my music ...
I'm a music fanatic - I've a precious collection of vinyl hiding under my desk.
Hedgewolf has rigged my stereo up to my pc, so now I am able to transfer my vinyl to the pc, to cd and to my mp3 player - which mean ..... more music for the car!
Hurrah!!
I am trialling a piece of software called Polderbits, hoping I can get it all done before the two weeks is up.
I'll let you know about it's usability but so far it seems idiot proof - which it needs to be - I have a talent for breaking technology!

Only 1 week to go till my driving theory test ... ooooh scary!

Thank Crunchie it's Wednesday!
Happy Beltaine to all of my Fellow Humans x
Sorry it's a bit late but I seem to be a day behind at the moment - ho hum
Well following my posting of this morning hubby arrived home with required pain killing tablets from the chemist.
Huzzah!!!
Chucked two down my neck and staggered out of the door, looking like a cross between a crab and godzilla (my imagination is running wild - it's the tablets!)
Well about 30 minutes later - having just arrived at work, in queue for a Cappuchino and the munchies hit me .... bugger, I blew half a week's worth of lunch money - I then proceeded to scoff my way through the entire contents of my lunchbox. Come dinner time at 4.30, all I have left is a soggy salad ....
Oh well ... another pain killer later .... we are being bussed to a seminar, being given by the high up's off our national corporation.
In front of me is a plate of individual portions of sweeties,a bowl of fruit, a plate of biccies and a flagon of coffee.
Well what's a girl to do?
2 cups of coffee .. weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh!
Not only am I stoned - I'm also fucking hyper .................................
So I go for a hefty dose of water, to try and bring myself back down a bit, and my colleagues are trying their very best to goad me into releasing my laugh. I have what could be termed a dirty laugh, and they take great pleasure at making me laugh at the most inopportune moments. Buggers!![]()
One nasal ejection later .... I wouldn't mind under normal circumstances but I was eating Skittles at the time ........... Have you ever seen a Purple skittle being nasally ejected at one of the Managing Directors of a national institution before?
I can assure you .. that with hindsight I can now see the funny side .... and I was rather ... a lot embarrased ... ![]()
Still our deputy manager was presented with a bottle of champagne - he deserves it, he's a very cool person and I have a lot of respect for the guy and in his typically laidback way fed the honour back to us as his team. Nice bloke.
So I've had a really good day, feeling quite groovy with the world and I'm stoned off my tits - legally!!
We like opiates ![]()
Can't feel a thing!
Morning!!
It's Wednesday - the last day of my working week and I have to make up a missing hour at work today - so will be leaving soon.
I mentioned before that I had a fall a few weeks ago and landed rather heavily on both knees, left knee is still giving me gyp, so thought I'd go to the Doc's yesterday and see what they had to say.
Well after a thorough grilling from two medical students and a thorough examination by the 'real' doc I now have a diagnosis.
I've dented my kneecap and have a swelling of fluid behind the kneecap, which when I move presses against the kneecap - thus causing !!!!PAIN!!!! I'm used to pain but this is just frakkin agonising. Ever wanted to cut off your extremities? That's how I feel today.
Doc prescribed some superdupergetmestoned quick pain killers and hubby has just gone to fetch them from the chemists.
I'm out of here - and shortly out of here!
byee
