Ok we all know that moving house is an extremely stressful time in anyone's life ... so why the f**k have I still got boxes all over my front room and why do they still keep appearing ??
Well it's like this, we finally completed on the house on the 21st July and .... we are still trying to cram stuff in, we've moved from a huge farmhouse (went with the job) to a victorian detached 2 up 2 down with added bits and a huge garden. Just how much stuff do we own?? Lots and lots and lots and lots - getting a picture yet. Oh and to top it all, when we finally got the gas meter reinstalled (long winded half arsed story to go with it)we discover that the boiler is knackered and for the first 3 weeks of living here we had no hot water. AAARGH! We also had no internet until Friday 11th August, despite informing aol that we were moving and it was only supposed to take 10 days from the time the phone was installed (22nd July), I've also had to cater for my 10 year old daughter's birthday party (23rd July) and all whilst still moving in. It's a nightmare!! But it's our nightmare...
On another note, we recently discovered on DVD a series by Joss Whedon (him of Buffy and Angel fame) called Firefly, highly recommended - but it's only a one season box set, it was cancelled after the first series, which was a real shame as the plots could have developed nicely, however they did make a film of the series called Serenity. All scifi fans should look out for this DVD and buy it!
Well anyway - now back to the house, we now have partial central heating, courtesy of a nice plumber called Julian (who honestly didn't mind me bouncing a cheque on him last week - whoops!)and we will be getting him back to do some more gas plumbing very shortly.
Our poor landrover is unwell, she didn't particularly like dragging a 2 tonne trailer back and forth from the farm to our new home in Dudley, 3 round trips a day of 14 miles each time has taken it's toll on the poor old girl - well she is 40 years old and due to lack of funds has not been the best cared for vehicle on the road these past 2 years.
Anyway - we're settling in, enjoying having our own space again, live in jobs are all very well, but it's like living in a goldfish bowl in someone else's living room all the time!
So I'm off to smoke a cigarette in my front room and listen to some loud rock music.
Tara a bit xx
